Agricultural Investment Promotion Program (AFP Guideline)

The Agricultural Investment Promotion Program (AFP) in Saxony-Anhalt targets micro, small, and medium-sized agricultural enterprises based in the federal state. The AFP promotes investments in agricultural businesses aimed at modernization, efficiency improvement, and meeting high standards in environmental, climate, and animal welfare areas. This includes both structural measures and the acquisition of machinery and software-based solutions.

Agricultural investment promotion is provided as project funding in the form of grants or guarantee schemes. The funding amount varies depending on the type of investment and can be increased by surcharges for young farmers or cooperatives, subject to maximum funding rates and volumes.

To receive funding, applicants must meet certain legal, financial, and operational requirements. These include proof of qualifications and economic viability, compliance with income limits, and specific conditions for the investment project and business operations. Cumulation with other public funding is only possible to a limited extent.

Applications for agricultural investment funding must be submitted in writing and completely before the start of the project. Approval is based on a point system that creates a ranking of applications, with an expert committee providing advice for higher funding amounts.
