Promotion of Animal Breeding
The Animal Breeding Funding Guideline of the Free State of Thuringia supports measures for the preservation and improvement of the competitiveness of animal production. Who is Funded: Thuringian Animal Breeding
Funding is aimed at Thuringian breeding organizations that carry out their breeding programs in the Free State of Thuringia. Ultimate beneficiaries can be animal breeders, SMEs, and hobby animal keepers. The goal is to strengthen the competitiveness of animal production as well as to preserve and improve the genetic quality of the animal population in Thuringia.
What is Funded: Measures in Animal Breeding
The guideline supports specific animal breeding measures such as herdbook management, performance and quality tests, and the organization of animal shows. Eligible expenses are clearly defined, and the focus is on securing and improving the genetic quality of farm animals.
Type and Extent of Funding
Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant, primarily in the form of co-financing of up to 70 percent of eligible expenses. There are specific maximum amounts per measure and animal species. A minimum grant of 1,000 euros is required for applications.
Conditions and Requirements
To receive funding, specific legal and organizational requirements must be met, including proper maintenance of herdbooks and compliance with animal breeding regulations. Funding is subject to EU state aid rules and the General Ancillary Provisions for Project Funding.
Application Procedure for Animal Breeding Funding
The application for funding must be submitted in writing and on time to the Thuringian State Office for Agriculture and Rural Areas. Approval is at the discretion of the authority, and disbursement and proof of use are subject to specific regulations.

Funding is based on the Animal Breeding Funding Guideline of the Thuringian Ministry for Infrastructure and Agriculture and the Animal Breeding Act. It is framed by state and EU legal provisions for budget management and aid.
