Care in the Local Social Environment (PflegesoNahFöR)

The funding program "Care in the Local Social Environment (PflegesoNahFöR)" of the Free State of Bavaria is aimed at natural and legal persons who implement care services in the local social environment. The goal is to create or modernize needs-based, regionally oriented, dementia-sensitive, and barrier-free care and support structures to enable people in need of care to remain in their familiar environment for longer. Funding is limited to projects within Bavaria.

Within the framework of PflegesoNahFöR, investment measures for the creation, replacement new construction, conversion, and modernization of various types of care places and community centers are funded. This includes services for short-term, respite, day and night care, full-time inpatient care, as well as outpatient supported living communities and community centers, which are geared towards the needs of people in need of care and people with dementia. The purchase of real estate can also be eligible for funding under certain conditions.

The PflegesoNahFöR funding program provides grants, the amount of which varies depending on the type of measure and the place created. The funding amount can be up to 100,000 Euros per newly created care place, or up to 60% of the eligible expenses for conversion and modernization measures. In addition, commitment periods for the proper use of the funded places must be observed.

To receive funding from PflegesoNahFöR, applicants must meet specific requirements, including proof of need, the existence of social-spatial planning and a professional concept, and consideration of the funding when calculating rent or lease payments. De minimis thresholds apply to the total eligible costs, and compliance with De minimis regulations is essential.

The application for PflegesoNahFöR must be submitted in due time using the forms provided by the approving authority. Project selection takes place annually based on a funding program, with the professional quality of the concept, its coherence, and the structural implementation being paramount. Special regulations apply to the purchase of real estate.

The funding program "Care in the Local Social Environment (PflegesoNahFöR)" is based on a specific directive of the Bavarian State Ministry of Health and Care. It is underpinned by the Bavarian Budget Code as well as other relevant social security codes and regulations in the care sector, which form the legal framework for the grants.
