E-Sport Funding Guidelines

The E-Sport Funding Guidelines Schleswig-Holstein target a wide range of actors within the federal state. The goal is to support the development of a statewide e-sport offering in conjunction with digital competence. Eligible applicants include, in particular, municipal institutions, youth welfare organizations, as well as sports and e-sport clubs and associations that carry out their projects in Schleswig-Holstein. The program aims to strengthen both technical infrastructures and preventive educational measures, prioritizing inter-municipal or regional cooperation.

The E-Sport Funding Guidelines Schleswig-Holstein support various measures and projects that contribute to the development and strengthening of e-sport offerings and digital competence in the state. Funding is provided for investments in technical infrastructure and the furnishing of e-sport rooms, as well as renovation measures. Furthermore, information events addressing topics such as media literacy and addiction and violence prevention in the digital space are supported. Projects with primarily commercial approaches are excluded from funding.

The funding program offers non-repayable grants for project funding, the amount and share of eligible costs varying depending on the type of measure. Financial support ranges from up to 90 percent for technical infrastructure to fixed amounts for information events. Minimum thresholds must be observed, and a co-financing share of at least 20 percent is required.

Specific conditions apply to the application and implementation of funding projects under the E-Sport Funding Guidelines Schleswig-Holstein. These include complete project planning, securing overall financing, and explicit inclusion of prevention measures against online addiction and sexualized violence. Sustainability aspects must also be considered. It should be noted that there is no legal entitlement to funding, as the approving authority decides at its dutiful discretion within the framework of available budget funds.

Applications for the E-Sport Funding Guidelines Schleswig-Holstein must be submitted in writing to the Ministry of Interior, Municipalities, Housing and Sport. There were specific deadlines for submitting applications, which have already passed for the years 2023 and 2024. The selection of projects is made at the dutiful discretion of the approving authority, based on the availability of budget funds.

The E-Sport Funding Guidelines Schleswig-Holstein are based on specific legal foundations that legitimize their existence and implementation. They regulate the promotion of e-sport as part of club and association development in the state and are subject to the provisions of the State Budget Law and the State Administrative Act. The guidelines were announced by the Ministry of Interior, Municipalities, Housing and Sport and were limited until the end of 2024.
