Elevator Systems in Rental Residential Buildings (RL AMW)

This funding program targets owners and leaseholders of existing rental residential buildings in Saxony. The goal is to improve housing quality, remove barriers, and address demographic challenges by reducing housing vacancies. The funding is tied to specific building and vacancy criteria.

The program supports specific construction measures to improve accessibility and development in existing rental residential buildings. In addition to the installation or renovation of elevators, accompanying measures to remove barriers in the access area are also funded. Pure replacement measures for existing elevators are excluded.

Support is provided in the form of interest-subsidized development loans, disbursed by the Sächsische Aufbaubank (SAB). The loan can amount to up to 100 percent of the eligible expenses, with a minimum funding amount of 80,000 Euros. The interest subsidy applies for a maximum of 20 years.

For funding, specific requirements regarding the building, project economic viability, and vacancy reduction must be met. Additionally, state aid regulations must be observed, and the funding must not overlap with certain other state programs.

The application must be submitted to Sächsische Aufbaubank (SAB) before the start of the project, with all required forms and documents attached completely. SAB reviews the eligibility for funding and makes a decision upon receipt of the complete documents. The loan disbursement occurs in installments, the interest subsidy monthly.

The funding for elevator systems in rental residential buildings is based on the "Directive of the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior for the Promotion of Elevator Systems in Rental Residential Buildings (RL Aufzugsanlagen Mietwohngebäude – RL AMW)" from 2019, supplemented by the Saxon Budget Code and EU state aid regulations.
