Funding for Assisted Reproduction Measures

This funding program supports involuntarily childless couples in Germany with the financing of reproductive medical treatments. Funding is tied to certain prerequisites, including residency, place of treatment, and medical criteria.

Specific reproductive medical treatments such as in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) are funded for the first to fourth treatment cycles. The grant exclusively covers incurred treatment costs.

Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant, the amount of which depends on the family constellation and the number of treatments. Financial support is tied to co-financing by the respective federal state.

To receive funding, various prerequisites must be met, including criteria regarding residency, place of treatment, medical documentation, and specific age limits. A key condition is co-financing by the federal state of residence.

The application process differs depending on the federal state. For applicants from Saxony, the Federal Office for Family and Civil Society Affairs is responsible, while in other federal states, the respective state authorities act as contact points. Approval is granted at dutiful discretion.

The funding program is based on the guideline of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth for the promotion of assisted reproduction measures. Further relevant provisions can be found in the Federal Budget Code and the Social Code Book.
