Funding for Assisted Reproduction Measures

This funding is aimed at involuntarily childless married couples and couples in cohabiting partnerships with their main residence in Saxony-Anhalt. The goal is to financially support these couples with assisted reproduction measures and enable them to plan their families. The funding supplements existing federal grants and state-wide initiatives.

Specific assisted reproduction measures are funded, namely In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) treatments in the first to third treatment cycles. The grants cover expenses for laboratory, anesthesia, and pharmacy, while administrative costs are explicitly excluded.

The program provides non-repayable grants as partial financing for assisted reproduction measures. The funding covers up to 50 percent of the couples' out-of-pocket expenses, with maximum amounts set per type of treatment, and support is limited to the first three treatment cycles.

To avail of the funding, couples must meet specific residency and treatment location requirements. It is also important that treatment does not commence before receiving the approval notice, unless an early start to the measure has been expressly approved. All relevant documents must be retained for a specified period.

The application for funding must be submitted to the Saxony-Anhalt State Administrative Office before the start of the measure, using specific forms. Each assisted reproduction measure requires a separate application. Applications are processed in the order of their receipt, and the approving authority decides on the allocation of funds.

This funding program is based on the guidelines of the State of Saxony-Anhalt for the promotion of assisted reproduction measures. It is regulated by the State Budget Code and corresponding administrative regulations, supplemented by nationwide guidelines and requirements of the Medical Association.
