Funding Guideline for Structural Development of the Lusatian Lignite Mining Region
The "Structural Development Lusatian Lignite Region" program of the State of Brandenburg supports investments to manage structural change and secure employment in this region. It promotes infrastructure projects that contribute to the creation and preservation of jobs and training positions, as well as to the diversification of the economic structure. Eligible applicants can receive a grant of up to 90 percent of the eligible costs under certain conditions.

Type and Extent of Funding
The funding program provides non-repayable or conditionally repayable grants for structural development projects. The funding rate can be up to 90 percent of the eligible costs, with a minimum grant amount of EUR 25,000. The project duration is generally limited to four years but can extend for main measures until the end of 2038.
Conditions and Requirements
The funding is subject to specific conditions, including the contribution to structural development and compliance with the German Sustainability Strategy. There are clear guidelines on state aid provisions such as the GBER and the De minimis Regulation, as well as on overall financing and budget adherence of the projects. Double funding is excluded.
Application Procedure
The application procedure is multi-stage and begins with the submission of project ideas to Wirtschaftsregion Lausitz GmbH (WRL). After qualification and prioritization by the Interministerial Working Group Lusatia (IMAG Lausitz), the actual application is submitted to Investitionsbank des Landes Brandenburg (ILB). Early start of measures is possible under certain conditions.

The Funding Guideline for Structural Development of the Lusatian Lignite Mining Region, State of Brandenburg, forms the primary basis of the program. This is supplemented by the Structural Strengthening Act, the Investment Act for Coal Regions, federal-state agreements, the Lusatia Program 2038, as well as budgetary and state aid provisions.
