Funding for Projects in Education for Sustainable Development and Environmental Education in Bavaria (FöR-PrBNE)

This funding program targets legal entities in Bavaria active in the field of education for sustainable development (ESD) and environmental education (EE). The main goal is the expansion and strengthening of high-quality educational programs that promote environmental awareness, ecological connections, and sustainable actions, particularly to supplement existing offerings and develop innovative educational approaches.

The program supports non-economic projects that create high-quality educational programs in the field of sustainable development and environmental education. This includes the preparation, implementation, and follow-up of educational programs, as well as the development and testing of innovative approaches and the organization of networking events. The funding covers a variety of expenses but excludes the acquisition of land and buildings and ongoing operating costs.

Funding is provided as a project grant with a maximum funding rate of 70% of the total eligible expenses. For eligible projects, a de minimis threshold of €5,000 applies, which, however, does not apply to networking events. The project duration is linked to the approval period and requires proof of use within six months after project end.

Funding is subject to specific conditions regarding application, consortium composition (if applicable), compliance with aid rules, budget specifications, and other regulations such as data protection and adherence to the project start. The professional competence of the project organization and a balanced mediation of educational content must always be ensured.

The application process begins with the submission of the application form and supplementary documents to the competent district government. Applications are professionally evaluated by an expert committee, and the final decision is made by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection. After approval, the district government handles the further process, including disbursement and proof of use.

The funding program is based on the "Guidelines for the Funding of Projects in Education for Sustainable Development and Environmental Education in Bavaria (FöR-PrBNE)" of July 14, 2022.
