Equity

The GFF/EIF Growth Facility is a central initiative under the umbrella of the Future Fund, facilitating access to urgently needed growth capital for fast-growing companies. Over a period of ten years, up to 3.5 billion Euros will be invested in growth funds and larger-volume growth financing rounds for start-ups, managed by the European Investment Fund.

Who is funded

Venture Capital Funds in Germany that invest in fast-growing companies are the primary beneficiaries of this facility. The goal is to improve access to growth capital and strengthen the German start-up scene.

What is funded

The GFF/EIF Growth Facility is open to all sectors and focuses on providing capital for growth funds and large-volume growth financing rounds for start-ups. In particular, projects in advanced development phases are supported.

Type and Extent of Funding

The facility offers financing in the form of equity participations. The total volume of funding is significant and extends over a period of ten years, with investments generally made on the same terms as those of private co-investors.

Conditions and Requirements

To be eligible for funding, applicants – primarily venture capital funds – must demonstrate proven experience and a track record in the investment sector. Investments are always made on a pari passu basis with private capital providers.

Application Procedure

The European Investment Fund (EIF) is the managing body of the GFF/EIF Growth Facility. Interested venture capital funds can direct their inquiries directly to the EIF to initiate the equity financing process.

The GFF/EIF Growth Facility was established in June 2021 under the umbrella of the Future Fund. It is based on a joint financing volume from the Future Fund, the ERP Special Fund, and the EIF, with the successful ERP/EIF Growth Facility serving as a model.
