Implementation of the LEADER Development Strategy 2014–2020 (VwV LEADER)

The funding is aimed at stakeholders in the rural areas of Baden-Württemberg who initiate projects for the implementation of regional development strategies. The goal is to strengthen the regional economy, infrastructure, and quality of life, with special consideration for women in rural areas as well as nature conservation and culture.

The program supports a wide range of projects in rural areas that strengthen the local economy, infrastructure, culture, and natural heritage. This includes projects from business startups to nature conservation measures and regional management.

Funding is provided as a grant for project funding in the form of co-financing. The maximum total funding amount for a project is limited to 1 million Euros, with funding rates varying depending on the measure and being determined by the LEADER Local Action Groups.

The approval of funding is tied to specific prerequisites that require a close connection to the regional development strategies of the LEADER Local Action Groups. Special provisions also apply regarding aid rules, budget limits, and commitment periods.

The application process for LEADER projects begins with the submission of a project application to the regional management of the competent LEADER Local Action Group. After a positive decision by the LAG's selection committee and subsequent review by the regional government (Regierungspräsidium), an invitation to submit the funding application is issued.

The funding guideline is based on an administrative regulation of the Ministry of Rural Affairs Baden-Württemberg and is underpinned by a series of EU regulations and national laws that form the framework for rural development and structural funds.
