Local Youth Promotion

Funding is aimed at local public youth welfare providers in Thuringia. The goal is to strengthen their municipal self-responsibility, support needs-based service structures for youth welfare, and promote cooperation between youth welfare and schools as well as the participation of young people.

The program supports a wide range of measures in the field of local youth welfare. This includes youth work, youth association work, youth social work, and child and youth protection, as well as specific offers for young offenders and for the participation of young people.

Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant in the form of fixed-amount financing. The amount of the grant depends on available state funds and the child and youth population, covering up to 60 percent of eligible expenses.

Various prerequisites must be met to receive funding, including the integration of measures into youth welfare planning, adherence to professional recommendations, and specific cooperation obligations for school-related youth work.

The application for local youth promotion must be submitted annually by December 31 of the previous year. Approval is granted by the Thuringian State Administration Office, with early commencement of measures also possible under certain conditions. The use of funds must be proven by verification.

The funding program is based on the "New Version of the Guideline for Local Youth Promotion" from January 29, 2024. It is regulated by various state and federal legal provisions as well as administrative regulations that determine the implementation and administration of the grants.
