Demographic Change (FRL Demography)

The "FRL Demography" program of the Free State of Saxony addresses a wide range of public and non-profit organizations that plan projects for the active shaping of demographic change in Saxony. The aim is to support regions with population decline or aging in developing and implementing sustainable adaptation strategies.

The FRL Demography funding focuses on innovative projects and conceptual measures that directly contribute to coping with demographic change. Strategy developments, pilot projects, and measures in the area of civic engagement are funded. Construction measures are not eligible for funding.

The FRL Demography provides financial support in the form of non-repayable grants. The funding covers a significant portion of the eligible expenses, with a co-payment expected from the applicant.

To receive funding under the FRL Demography, applicants must meet certain legal and financial requirements, including the implementation of the project in Saxony and the provision of an own contribution. Specific regulations also apply regarding combination with other funding programs.

Applications for funding through the FRL Demography must be submitted in writing and on time to the Sächsische Aufbaubank (SAB), accompanied by detailed documentation. The approval decision is made in several steps with the involvement of the Saxon State Chancellery.

The FRL Demography funding program is based on a specific guideline from the Saxon State Chancellery and is supplemented by relevant provisions of the Saxon Budget Code. These legal bases define the funding purpose, eligibility, and procedural workflows of the program.
