Saxony-Anhalt SCIENCE – Gender Equality, Qualification, Young Academics (ESF+)

Universities and research institutions in Saxony-Anhalt can receive funding under this program to strengthen gender equality, qualification, and the development of young academics. It aims to increase the state's innovative capacity by promoting excellent research and securing the supply of skilled labor.

This European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) program supports diverse projects aimed at improving gender equality, qualification, and junior staff development in Saxony-Anhalt's scientific sector. It particularly supports measures in STEM, medicine, and nursing sciences, as well as accompanying research in social sciences, humanities, law, and economics.

Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant, which can cover up to 100% of the eligible expenses. The project duration is limited to a maximum of December 31, 2028.

To receive funding, applicants must ensure compliance with various conditions, including the non-economic use of the funded research institution and careful documentation of expenses. Furthermore, transparency and publicity obligations regarding EU funding must be observed.

Applications must be submitted in writing or electronically to Investitionsbank Sachsen-Anhalt. Projects are selected based on the order of application receipt, with the approving authority deciding on eligibility for funding, taking into account an expert committee.

The program is based on a specific directive of the state of Saxony-Anhalt, which is supported by several EU regulations and national budgetary provisions. These legal bases ensure coherence with European funding objectives and national guidelines.
