Sports Funding Guidelines

The Sports Funding Guidelines of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate support sports organizations, especially the Rhineland-Palatinate State Sports Federation and its affiliated clubs and associations. The program aims to strengthen grassroots and club sports, performance and elite sports, training and education, and youth sports in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The Sports Funding Guidelines support a variety of measures in the sports sector, from the acquisition of sports equipment and the organization of championships to the training and further education of coaches. Primarily excluded are commercial projects, school sports events, as well as sponsoring and prize money.

The State of Rhineland-Palatinate provides grants in the form of subsidies, both as lump-sum expense reimbursement (basic funding) and for project funding. The amount of the grant depends on the type and scope of the respective measure, with full financing being possible in exceptional cases.

The approval and onward transmission of funding are subject to various conditions, including the conclusion of grant agreements, the provision of appropriate own contributions by sports organizations, and strict rules for the formation of provisions and reserves. Project commencement before funding approval is not permitted.

The application procedure for the Sports Funding Guidelines includes the submission of preliminary budget plans and written applications for basic and project funding. Approval is granted by a written grant notice, followed by detailed proofs of use and audits by the Supervisory and Service Directorate (ADD) or the Court of Audit of Rhineland-Palatinate.

The Sports Funding Guidelines of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate are based on the Sports Promotion Act and the State Budget Code. These legal foundations ensure the authority and framework conditions for granting subsidies in the sports sector.
