Grants for Strengthening the Welcome Culture

This funding program of the State of Saxony-Anhalt is aimed at districts and independent cities that actively work on strengthening the welcome culture and integrating refugees. The funding aims to improve communication with the local population and strengthen the intercultural competencies of administrative staff.

The funding supports measures that directly contribute to strengthening the welcome culture and intercultural understanding. This includes both public relations and internal competence development of the administration. Only costs that arise directly from the project and are considered necessary according to strict standards are funded.

Support is provided as a non-repayable grant, which can cover up to 90 percent of eligible expenses. The maximum funding amount is limited to €20,000 annually per municipality.

Various legal and administrative conditions apply to applicants. These include the necessity of a detailed description of measures, as well as compliance with budgetary regulations and transparency obligations. There is no legal entitlement to the funding; the granting is at the discretionary power of the approving authority.

The application procedure requires the submission of complete documents to the Saxony-Anhalt State Administrative Office. The selection of projects is at the discretion of the approving authority and is linked to the availability of budgetary funds.

The funding is based on a specific guideline from the Ministry of Interior and Sport of the State of Saxony-Anhalt and is underpinned by relevant state budgetary and administrative regulations. These bases ensure the lawful and transparent allocation of grants.
