Last updated: 13.6.2025
Grant

The Free Hanseatic City of Bremen supports property owners and those with legal rights of disposal (e.g., hereditary building rights holders or tenants with owner consent) with grants for the voluntary condition assessment of their private sewage and mixed water drainage pipes. This program promotes TV inspections and/or leakage tests to strengthen preventive groundwater and soil protection in the State of Bremen. The initiative aims to encourage proactive efforts in checking existing systems.

Who is Funded: Target Groups and Geographical Scope

This funding program is aimed at owners and those with legal rights of disposal over properties in the State of Bremen who wish to voluntarily check the condition of their private sewage or mixed water pipes. The goal is the preventive protection of groundwater and soil.

What is Funded: Funding Subject and Costs

Funding is provided for the professional leakage testing of main pipes and manholes that discharge sewage or mixed water into a public sewer system. This includes TV inspections and/or leakage tests, as well as the creation of relevant documentation and recommendations. Measures for damage remediation are explicitly excluded.

Type and Extent of Funding

Funding is provided as a grant covering 40% of eligible expenses, up to a maximum of 280 Euros per grant recipient and property. The measures must be carried out within six months of the funding commitment.

Conditions and Requirements

Important conditions include that the measure must be voluntary and not undertaken due to legal obligations. The inspection must be carried out by a certified specialist company. Commercial applicants must submit a De Minimis declaration.

Application Procedure

The application must be submitted to Bremer Umwelt Beratung e.V. before the start of the measure, using a special form, to which a cost estimate and, if applicable, a De Minimis declaration must be attached. Disbursement will occur after successful completion and submission of proof.

The funding program is based on the Funding Guideline of January 18, 2024, and is supplemented by the administrative regulations for § 44 of the State Budget Act (LHO). The guideline is limited until December 31, 2025.
