Participation in Disaster Control (RL KatSZuwendungen)

The program supports organizations and units involved in disaster control in the Free State of Saxony. The funding aims to reduce their expenses and strengthen disaster control in the region. Eligible to apply are private aid organizations, operators of disaster control units, as well as municipal corporations and special purpose associations.

The program supports a wide range of measures to strengthen disaster control, including the maintenance and procurement of equipment, the assumption of sponsorships, youth work, driver's license acquisition, and the construction or renovation of buildings for disaster control units. It covers infrastructure, capacity building, and training areas.

Funding is provided exclusively in the form of grants, the amount of which varies depending on the type of project and is granted as a fixed-rate or co-financing. There are specific flat rates for the sponsorship of disaster control units, as well as maximum funding amounts for equipment, youth work, driver's licenses, and construction measures.

The granting of subsidies is tied to specific conditions, which depend on the type of measure funded. These include contractual agreements, the necessity of sponsorships for youth work, proof of need for driver's license acquisition, and a positive opinion from the supervisory authority for municipal construction projects.

The application process for funding varies depending on the type of measure with regard to the documents to be submitted and deadlines. Applications are generally to be submitted via the responsible lower fire protection, rescue service and disaster control authority to the Landesdirektion Sachsen, which is also the approving authority.

The funding guideline is based on the Saxon Law on Fire Protection, Rescue Services and Disaster Control, as well as the Saxon Disaster Control Ordinance and the corresponding Budget Codes. It is the primary legal basis for granting subsidies for participation in disaster control.
