It aims to strengthen the innovative capacity of Saxon companies and improve technology and knowledge transfer by supporting the employment of Innovation Assistants, InnoManagers, and Transfer Assistants, as well as the formation of "InnoTeams".

Who is funded

The ESF Plus MINT Professionals Program of the Free State of Saxony supports Saxon companies and research institutions by promoting the recruitment and retention of skilled workers from mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology (MINT). The goal is to strengthen innovation capabilities and create future-proof jobs in Saxony, particularly by improving cooperation between science and industry.

What is funded

The program promotes the permanent new employment of Innovation Assistants, InnoManagers, and Transfer Assistants, as well as collaboration in "InnoTeams". The focus is on addressing innovative topics, introducing innovation management, and supporting technology transfer in Saxon companies. In addition, industrial research and experimental development projects are supported.

Type and Scope of Funding

Funding is provided as a grant and co-financing. The amount of the grant and the maximum duration vary depending on the type of personnel or project funded. For certain professional positions, there are annual maximum limits, while for InnoTeams, percentage funding rates apply, based on company size and type of research.

Conditions and Requirements

The program is subject to specific criteria regarding the persons to be funded, the workplace, and the type of employment. There are clear guidelines for personnel qualifications and aid regulations, including De minimis provisions and the General Block Exemption Regulation. Consortia are mandatory for InnoTeams.

Application Procedure

The application is usually submitted via the SAB funding portal before the start of the project. For InnoTeams, a two-stage procedure is planned, starting with a project outline. The granting authority decides on the funding at its discretion and requests regular interim reports to monitor project progress.

The ESF Plus MINT Professionals Program is based on a specific directive of the Saxon State Ministry for Economy, Labor and Transport. It is also subject to several EU regulations and directives that define the aid rules and framework conditions for funding. Official texts are accessible via the website of the granting authority.
