Provision of Housing and Accommodation for Refugees

This funding program is aimed at municipalities in Schleswig-Holstein and supports them in creating and making usable housing and accommodation for refugees, especially from Ukraine. The goal is to promote decentralized housing and facilitate integration.

The program supports measures for the creation and preparation of housing and accommodation for refugees, which can be implemented as decentralized measures (under 50 places) or temporary municipal communal accommodations (50 places or more). The funding covers a variety of projects, from new construction to furnishing measures.

Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant, the amount of which depends on the type of measure and the financial situation of the municipality. There are specific maximum limits per district, administrative office (Amt), or municipality, and a de minimis threshold for applications.

Specific requirements apply to the nature and location of the accommodations to ensure the living quality and integration of refugees. The conditions for an early start of measures and the earmarking of investments are also clearly defined.

The application process involves submitting complete documents to Investitionsbank Schleswig-Holstein (IB.SH) by the stated deadline. The approving authority decides at its dutiful discretion within the limits of available budget funds.

The funding program is based on the Guideline on the Provision of Housing and Accommodation for Refugees, issued by the Ministry of Interior, Rural Areas, Integration and Equality, with the latest amendments by the Ministry of Interior, Municipal Affairs, Housing and Sport.
